Mental Health Awareness
for Employment Service
Providers (MHAESP)
Mental health issues are one of the leading factors impacting on
society today. It is estimated that over 70% of people greater than
12 months unemployed have some degree of mental health issue. It is
important to develop awareness of mental health conditions and
issues and how these impact on people's ability to gain and maintain
employment.
This
1-day workshop will
focus on developing strong awareness of the issues surrounding
mental health in Australia. This workshop aims to prepare staff for
an increase in clients with mental health issues from July 1, 2009
with the introduction of stream services.
This workshop focuses on both theory behind specific mental health
conditions as well as practical ideas for addressing the mental
health needs of people looking for work and those in crisis.
Participants will
also receive a bonus Support CD-Rom containing toolkits, fact
sheets, resources and web links to support the delivery of services
to people with mental health issues.
