REACH FOR TRAINING

BACKGROUND

REACH for Training is a Registered Training Organisation that delivers national training package qualifications and selected units of competency appropriate to the Australian Qualifications Training Framework (AQTF). REACH for Training is a registered training organisation with the NSW Vocational Education & Training Accreditation Board, NTIS RTO Number: 91280.

REACH for Training was originally established in Cardiff by the Belmont 16ft Sailing Club in 2001. In July 2006 REACH for Training Pty Ltd was registered with the NSW Vocational Education & Training Accreditation Board, by the sole Director Angela Connell-Holden. In October 2008, REACH for Training expanded into the Central Coast when Advanced Corporation (formerly Advanced Careers College Gosford) went into liquidation. REACH for Training took over the training and assessment of the existing Advanced Careers College students as well as the lease on the building in Gosford.

REACH for Training now offers a wider range of courses across the Hunter, Newcastle and Central Coast.

The Director of REACH for Training is an active member of the Hunter Trainers & Assessors Network Executive Committee.

FACILITIES

REACH for Training currently delivers training at a variety of venues in and around the Newcastle and Central Coast areas.

The organisation s head office is located in Cardiff, with two colleges located in Cardiff and Gosford. Both college campuses have been purpose built to meet the requirements of the training we deliver.

Our Cardiff Campus accommodates 5 training rooms that includes a computer lab with 20 workstations for corporate, government, business and individual clients.

Our Gosford Campus accommodates 9 training rooms and includes a computer lab with up to 20 workstations for corporate, government, business and individual clients. This campus also has purpose built facilities to deliver training in Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy.

For every training program we deliver we utilise the most up-to-date resources required for the industry being taught (ie latest computer equipment for business and computer training programs).

CONTINUAL IMPROVEMENT

Client services are continuously improved through collecting, analysing and acting on relevant data. REACH for Training achieves this by:

  • Collecting, analysing and acting on Training Evaluation feedback. A Training Evaluation Form is given to every student who undertakes training with REACH for Training.
  • Keeping up to date with industry requirements through direct consultation with industry and Industry Surveys
  • Attending Industry Skills Council workshops and by providing feeding through Industry Skills Council surveys and focus groups
  • Keeping informed of industry changes through the Industry Skills Council Newsletters
  • Being involved with local and national training associations and organisations
  • Establishing client needs through verbal communication within the classroom
  • Holding monthly Quality Assurance Meetings to ensure that we are monitoring and improving our services
  • Providing students, industry, trainers and administration staff the opportunity to suggest improvements to our services by completing an Opportunity for Improvement form and acting on the suggestions made through our Quality Assurance Meetings.
  • Acting on complaints
  • Benchmarking against other registered training organisations
  • Holding Professional Development workshops for our training and administration staff
  • Undertaking Professional Development through attending workshops and training
  • Keeping our Trainers, Assessors and Administration staff up-to-date with changes within the industry
  • Undertaking internal audits of our systems and processes

TRAINERS AND ASSESSORS

All training courses conducted at REACH for Training are facilitated by professional trainers who have formal vocational qualifications in teaching adult learning, Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment. In order to teach with REACH for Training our trainers are required to hold a minimum qualification to the level they are teaching (ie Certificate III in Aged Care Work trainers have qualifications at Certificate III in Aged Care Work or above).

All our trainers and assessors are encouraged to undertake continual professional development to maintain their currency within the industry, this includes their teaching qualifications. Recently the Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment was updated to the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. All of our trainers and assessors are encouraged to complete this new qualification.

REACH for Training is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) under the Australian Qualification Framework with the NSW Vocational Education & Training Accreditation Board.
